I've been on a roll with broaches as of late- mostly brick stitch, with a little bead embroidery thrown in. Here is what I have so far. I had to take a time out to have trigger thumb surgery.
I finally figured out after about 50 tries (and NO i'm not exaggerating) how to use my Chomas engraver to get a visible image. This is part of an upcoming Wedding Advent Countdown gift for my husband's cousin.
I have been on a rampage making gifts for my kids teachers. And kept a few for myself.
Peacock 40.00
60.00 made with leather cord and tila beads
there is a much sharper picture of this down below |
Kumihimo Corner
These charm bracelets are also made on the kumihimo wall.
i made this bracelet for one of my son's teachers for Christmas- she is a Dr. Who Nerd and loved the gift. i was excited about making it- but i'll likely never do another as it was extremely tedious- there are about 7 or 8 different shades of blue and it required a lot of paying attention- i'm much more of a "mindless" beader- hence the sleepless title.
this one is for my grand niece who LOVES sunflowers- one thing i've learned along the way is to try and get as close to the edges as possible with beads before putting it on the box- you can still add later, but it is a lot of harder work to get your needle in and out of where you want it to go.
i made this one for my sister who lives in Florida- hope she likes it.
So I continue to work with bead embroidery. I've made some I like, some I don't. This one I do. It's a small wooden box, suitable for a few pieces of jewelry. The fish is actually a small patch that I beaded over. I gave the box to my niece and now I'm starting on another.
lavender/blue bead embroidery.
done in even count peyote. 38.00
its the logo for Kansas State and the Eurkea Wildcats, Lasalle Wildcats
these are photographed backwards- but it simply means turning the bracelet around so that the cat faces the right direction ;-)
I can also make the smaller version (narrow) with same design as the large (one cat, two paws) for 42.00
violin-
I so enjoyed making this, but it was admittedly tedious- about 3500 beads in all.
this will be a gift for my sons strings teacher- hope she likes it!
85.00 those crystals are pricey ;-(
I made this pendant to go with the bracelet above. I get a ton of compliments when I wear it. 21.00 (chain not included, but any chain will slip through)
same as the above ande- but a single row of Swarovski
so this guys with the braid- I ended up taking it back apart- the pattern (Spiceberry) called for delicas- I went with size 11 ,
So my photography skills need a lot of work! above was my first stab at beaded embroidery- I love the idea of it- but it does take a lot of time- if I were going to do it again- and I will at some point, I think its important to sketch out the whole look first-
below- this is a really simply pattern and stitches up quickly- its primarily right angle weave with 4 mm pearls and bicones- this is a gift I usually give to my kids teachers. The pattern is by Deborah Roberti. I sell these for 35.00
I call this my "caterpillar" bracelet and pendant
the bracelet is inspired by a sherri serafini design and then I went crazy with pearls and crystals in pastel. its a little heavy- and pricey because of so many beads $150.00
these are from the days when I did more "stringing" than beading.
This bracelet remains my favorite all time piece. I sell it for 75.00. Its alternating pearls and Swarvoski crystals.
another of my personal favorites- the detail is TINY- due to the size 15 beads- the pattern is from Laura McCabe-a sheer genius in beading-- 150.00 because I will have to purchase new glasses to make another
25.00 pendant only
hard to tell from the photo- but the one with the bale on the left is amythest and the one not yet completed is pink
I wish I could photograph this a little more clearly. It's made with magatama beads.
made this one for my son's cello teacher- (she also plays the piano). What fun it was to walk in and see her wearing it one day with a matching black and white outfit. The chain is Ndebele.
i made this pendant right after my mother passed away. its her wedding photo and I wear it when I need a little "mom".
